Joining a mystery order of any religious tradition requires a series of intentional steps to prepare the seeker for success. At the Astrum Temple, an initiation into our order is not only an embrace of community and lifestyle but also a commitment to the spiritual journey through a cosmic and esoteric lens. Each step of the process is designed to ensure that candidates are well-prepared to uphold the values and responsibilities within the order.

Expression of Interest: The journey begins with expressing a sincere interest in the initiatory life and the doctrines of the Astrum Temple. This is typically done by reaching out to a representative.

Familiarization and Education: Prospective initiates may undergo a period of study and observation to familiarize themselves with the core beliefs and practices of the Temple. This could involve attending public services, participating in community events, and studying preliminary teachings.

Discernment Period: Individuals enter a discernment phase, a time of reflection to ascertain their call. This can include prayer, meditation, and conversations with current members.

Novitiate: If the candidate chooses to continue, they are granted their 0° as a Neophyte, entering a more intentional phase of learning that deepens their understanding of the Temple’s esoteric wisdom. This stage often lasts a year and includes instruction from mentors.

Taking Temporary Vows: If the candidate aspires to pursue Holy or Hermetic Orders, they may be allowed to take temporary vows upon reaching their 1° degree, committing to the lifestyle for a period while still allowing for discernment before permanent vows are taken.

Final Vows: Upon the completion of their 3° degree, the candidate in invited to join the religious or hermetic order of their choosing and take solemn, permanent vows, fully entering the mystic life. This commitment is celebrated with a special initiation ceremony.

Ongoing Formation: Even after taking final vows, the initiate’s life includes continuous personal and spiritual development. Members are expected to deepen their study, expand their practice, and contribute to the life and growth of the community.

Specialization: Depending on individual aptitudes and interests, a member may pursue further specialization; becoming a priest, teacher, academic, or fulfilling a specific role within the order that aligns with the Temple’s tradition and spiritual goals.
